My other option that is half way between, is the Auria app on IOS that works plug and play with our 22 channel Soundcrsft desk with has a 22/22 audio interface - it’s the digital equivalent. For recording a band rehearsal or demo, the portability is great. I’d say if you are making a serious recording go DAW but if you want to capture ideas to a high standard like a HiFi musical notepad, the Tascam has a role.

It feels better to be required to nail the full take rather than punch it fixes - although the DP32 can do punch in if I wanted. So today I have both but most stuff recently has been the DP32 for convenience and the extra buzz and feeling of commitment. The DP32 is all complete and portable, can take 8 mics/lines from a session live with no extra interfaces, wires, etc. The individual WAV tracks drag and drop to computers via USB or SD card.
